Homemade Deep Fried Mushroom
I have seen frozen Fried Mushrooms in the store. Why you would buy them I don’t know. They just take a few minutes to prepare from fresh mushrooms. It doesn’t make much sense unless you are really pressed for time. This is such a great side dish it goes good with almost anything. I used white button mushrooms in this recipe but I am sure portabellas would be just as good if not better.
Homemade Deep Fried Mushroom
- Prep 15 min
- Cook 10 min
- Ready 25 min
- Serves 4
- 2 cup oil, for frying
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1⁄2 cup corn starch
- 3⁄4 tsp baking powder
- 1⁄4 tsp salt
- 1 cup water
- 2 cup panko bread crumbs
- 10 oz fresh white mushrooms, wiped clean
- Heat oil in a deep fryer or large skillet to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
- Mix together flour, corn starch, baking powder, and salt in a bowl. Stir in water until the batter is smooth. Place bread crumbs in a separate shallow bowl. Dip each mushroom in the batter, hold it over the bowl to let any excess drip off, and roll in bread crumbs to coat. Repeat with remaining mushrooms.
- Working in batches, fry mushrooms for 3 to 5 minutes or until golden brown. Transfer to a paper towel lined plate to drain.
