Garlic Dinner Rolls

For these rolls you can use your favorite bread dough. Simply shape it in the small rolls (medium egg size), let it raise and bake. Five minutes before ready, brush the tops of rolls with a mixture of water, finely chopped garlic, parsley or dill and oil or butter. Or use this simple recipe with white flour.

Garlic Dinner Rolls

Yield: 8 servings

Ingedients:

  • 1 cup white flour
  • 1/3 cup warm 1% milk
    2-3 tbsp. warm water
  • 1 tsp. sugar
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 tsp. dried yeast
  • 1 garlic clove
  • 1/2 tbsp. butter or oil
  • 1-2 sprigs dill or parsley

Steps:

  1. In a large mixing bowl, dissolve yeast in warm water. Add milk, sugar, salt and flour, mix well. Turn onto a lightly greased surface; knead until smooth and elastic, about 6-8 minutes or use your stand mixer. Place in a greased bowl. Cover and let rise in a warm place until doubled, about 1 hour.
  2. Punch dough down. Divide into 8 pieces. Shape each into a roll. Place on greased pie dish. Cover and let rise until doubled, about 30 minutes. Bake at 375F for 20 minutes.
  3. Mix chopped garlic, melted butter, chopped dill or parsley and 1 tsp. water. drizzle on top of rolls and bake 5 more minutes. Remove to wire racks, cover and let stay 10-15 minutes.
